Whitening is a good option for most people. Before you begin any whitening treatment, Dr. Rosenberg will sit down with you to outline your options and discuss any medical or dental conditions (such as extremely sensitive teeth) that could impact the effectiveness of the treatment.
Is whitening safe for my teeth?
Yes, whitening has been proven to be a safe dental procedure that does not harm your teeth.
How many visits will whitening take?
The type of whitening that you choose will determine how many visits you make to our office. Some whitening treatments –such as take out trays—can be performed entirely at home.
 What happens after I have a whitening treatment?
During whitening we remove the protective layer around your teeth that holds most of the stains. It takes 12 to 24 hours for the barrier to fully develop again. To maximize the whitening process and minimize the loss of your new brighter smile, we ask you to refrain from consuming dark liquids or foods (coffee, tea, red wine, dark soft drinks) and “yellow” foods such as potato chips and white wines. (We will give you a list of food and drink recommendations at the time of your treatment.)
Smoking is not permitted during the first 24 hours after treatment.
What kind of maintenance will my brighter smile require?
You must brush twice a day with an approved toothpaste to maximize the lifespan of your whitening treatments. Do not use any colored toothpastes or gels or any colored mouthwash or fluoride treatments during this first 24 hours.
