Your personal plan for cavity prevention
Once we have completed our risk assessment, we’ll develop an individualized treatment plan that will help you control the harmful bacteria in your mouth. Our recommendations may include:
- Changes to your diet - Reducing the number of sugary and starchy foods, snacks, drinks and candies can help reduce the development of tooth decay.
- Use of fluorides - These are available from a number of sources, including drinking water, toothpastes, over-the-counter rinses and products such as brush-on gels that we can prescribe.
- Daily plaque removal strategies - Brushing and flossing can help control tooth decay.
- Increasing the flow of saliva - Chewing sugar free gum after meals can help increase the flow of saliva.
- Antibacterial mouth rinses
- Sealants
- Preventive resins – advanced microdentistry to close up cracks and fissures where bacteria proliferate into full, active decay.
